THE SCENARIO Fireman says: “…when you are burning, stop, drop, and roll...”. Roll home to Fireman. You see, Fireman puts out fires, and cleans up charred messes, and dresses burn-wounds.
In the outworking of this scenario please consider the following:
1. Stop.
3. Drop.
5. Roll.
1. Stop. What’s burning? And why? Be sensitive to each. Identify the burn and the burn-source. And then, Just flat stop; do nothing for a while. Be at peace. Thus says Fireman (Philippians 4:4-8, “Scenario Thirty-Four”). Continued.
2. Hey PuroS, stop it. PuroS was burning; awfully angry, fitfully frustrated. Things. Things awry, were fueling the burn. Poor PuroS. But PuroS stopped. Assumptions, demands, memories, projections, this and that... Not halt here; but stop. Deep breathing. Disconnection. Stopping. Clearing. Soon praying, quietly, quiet. A right spirit before God. Calm and peace, and blessed harmony. Reconnecting with Jehovah God, beloved friend PuroS.
3. Drop. Drop it. Let it go. “It.” You know, the fuel. You’re in the stop mode, and then came the reconnect mode, now get in the drop mode (Matthew 5:29-30). How?! Continued.
4. Hey PuroS, drop it. PuroS used to smoke. Sundry cigarettes. Satisfied cigarette smokestack PuroS. But PuroS quit. PuroS laid ‘em down. PuroS really wanted to. PuroS dropped ‘em. Reconnected, Fireman doused the desire in PuroS, and replaced it with more satisfying ones, one moment, one hour, one day at a time. An edifice of confidence for the drop-victory built up here a little bit at a time, by Fireman.
5. Roll. Physically and mentally get away if you can. Manifestly leave if you can. Change the scenery if you can. Roll. Roll on home. Home is where Jehovah God is. Do some Bible study. Fellowship with the brethren. Get busy in your local church. Roll. Commune with God in your heart. Bless Him and Love Him and Praise Him and Thank Him, even Fireman, who rescued, who rescues us from the flames (Daniel 3:15-17, 23-26, Luke 19:10, Hebrews 10:26-31, 1Thessalonians 1:10, Revelation 1:17-18). Roll, roll on home (Romans 8:5-6, “A Letter of Invitation”). Continued.
6. Hey Puros, roll it. PuroS loved the streets. Hangin’ out with the bad boys. Mixin’ it up. Livin’ it up. Lots of heat there though. No place to call home those mean streets, for all the heat. Gotta stop, drop, and roll PuroS, roll on home. Hangin’ out with the good boys, God’s boys. Mixin’ it up, livin’ for God, for Fireman, who put out PuroS’ fires, and cleaned up PuroS’ charred messes, and dressed PuroS’ burn-wounds, did Fireman. PuroS loves Fireman. PuroS loves it at Home (Luke 15:11ff).
7. Dearest Christian friend, it is our prayer that Fireman helps you to
Stop,
Drop,
and Roll,
if you are somehow and for some reason feeling the heat down here in this caldron of sin and sorrow. Christ bless you and keep you safe and well, ever doused with His joy and peace all the days of your life dear Christian friend. Amen.
Praised be your blessed Name Fireman. Amen.
